La
Fundaciòn por un Piberio Integrado, or PUPI (The Foundation
for an
Integrated Childhood) is a non-profit-making organisation through
which we
want to promote, above all, action designed to guarantee nutrition,
health
and education for children who find themselves in high-risk social
environments; strengthening and complementing the work of their
families and
communities; incorporating their schools; categorically, stopping
them
abandoning their studies; and eliminating the social problems
that they
encounter.

We
want to overturn the idea that youngsters who live in high-risk
socio-cultural environments cannot find a purpose in their situations,
and
we want to eradicate the idea linking that concept to social exclusion
and
endangerment. In essence we want to form alliances between families
and our
Foundation; we want these alliances to be capable of solving (by
collective
strength) the inherent difficulties created by the social, educational
and
other problems of the children growing up in this community.
In
striving for this situation, we create structured projects and programmes
to respond to the needs of families and the community. These projects
aim to
eliminate the causes and origins of poverty.
Our
intention is not to solve the problems of individual children within
a
family; but we are, with the support of our benefactors, looking
to share
the problems of those children and their environment: we want to
help them
to become protagonists of their own development.
Furthermore
we want help to arrive for all members of the families and
communities through the children taking part in our project. We
have
definite and visible impacts on their situations through action
agreed
between parents and staff members of the Foundation.

Our
projects are foreseen over the medium and long term, since they
should
reflect a sustainable development in the community. We promote activities
linked to the sectors of industry, education and development, which
will
increase the communities ability to manage its own social situation.
At the
same time we are looking to respond collectively to the lack of
family
accommodation by directing building projects that the community
can manage
by itself.
In
short, we are looking to help a lot of people gain control of their
futures, and to fight for respect for their fundamental rights.
